WHAT IS IPL?

IPL skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive light therapy treatment that uses very brief pulses of extremely bright light to treat various skin conditions, including sun damage, rosacea, age spots, pigmentation and fine wrinkles. IPL Photo Rejuvenation can create a healthy, clear and radiant complexion.

HOW DOES IPL TREATMENT WORK?

IPL treatment works by using a broad spectrum of light wavelengths to target specific cells in the skin. The light energy is absorbed by the skin's pigments (including the red pigment in blood), causing them to break down and be absorbed by the body. The heat from the light energy also stimulates the production of collagen, which can help tighten and improve the texture and appearance of the skin.

WHEN CAN I SEE RESULTS?

If treating freckles, sunspots or other hyperpigmented areas, results will appear within weeks as the fragmented pigment is absorbed by the body, leaving little trace behind. We recommend a series of 4-6 sessions for best results.

WHO IS NOT SUITABLE FOR IPL?
Client that are a Fitzpatrick scale 4+ are not suitable for the treatment.

HOW LONG IN BETWEEN SESSIONS?

We recommend sessions to be completed every 4 weeks.

  • What is the Fibroblast/Plasma Pen treatment?
Fibroblast/Plasma Pen treatment is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to reduce the volume of excess skin. This treatment is low risk, has minimal downtime and more affordable than surgery. Fibroblast Treatment is known for it's success with Non Surgical Eye Lifts, Tummy Tightening, Neck Tightening and so much more.
  • Why does it have two names? Is fibroblast and plasma pen the same treatment?
This treatment has two different names in the beauty industry, however both of them are the same procedures and use the same machines. The treatment name 'fibroblast' derives from the fibroblast cells which are stimulated during this procedure. The other treatment name 'plasma pen' comes from the name of the machine which is used for this procedure.
  • What are fibroblast cells?
Fibroblasts are active cells in the dermis. Their function is to increase the productions of fibres, collagen and glycosaminoglycans. The number and productivity of fibroblasts decline with age. Their density gradually begins to decrease and fibroblasts in connective tissue rarely undergo division. Small injuries from plasma stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elevates elastin levels.
  • What does the plasma pen do?
The Plasma pen ionises gas in the air to create a small plasma flash. When the plasma touches the skin surface, the heat widens and is transferred into the epidermis all the way to the papillary layer which contains fibroblast cells. The skin then contracts and tightens, tones and lifts. Overall, this method activates healing, and this leads to the skin remodeling and improvement in various signs of aging
  • How many sessions do I need? How long do results last?
Results are immediate! So a single session is often all you need, as all clients see results post-treatment. However, follow up treatments can be performed after 8-12 weeks if needed. Results are expected to last 1 - 2 years. Results and the required sessions can vary each client, as it depends on the aging of the skin, its decrease in elasticity and how deep the wrinkle lines are.
  • What happens during the procedure? How long does it take?
During the procedure, you will discuss your desired treatment area. This consultation will be roughly 10-15 minutes, as you will also need to fill in the consultation from. Numbing cream will then be applied to the area and will be left on for 40 minutes. The actual treatment on the skin can take about 30 minutes-1.5 hours, depending on the size of the area and if more than one area is being treated.
  • Does it hurt? How long do the spots last?
It is similar to hair removal laser, where you will feel mild zaps (not as strong as hair removal though!). Numbing cream will be applied to minimise this feeling. The carbon crusts will show immediately and are expected to fall off from 3-5 days (can be up to 7). There is minimal downtime compared to other treatments/surgeries.
  • Who is an ideal client? Are there any limitations?
    - The client should be in good health at the time of the appointment, with no preexisting health conditions. If the client displays signs of cold or flu the treatment should be rescheduled. - This treatment is ONLY recommended on Fitzpatrick Scales 1-3. Fibroblast Treatment is NOT advised for those with very dark skin (Fitzpartrick Scales. 4 +). This is because there is a higher risk of hyperpigmentation (dark spots) or hypopigmentation (light spots) following treatment. - Clients skin should not be inflamed in the area we are treating prior to procedure. - Clients prone to keloid scars are not ideal candidates. - Clients with diabetes, healing disorders or lymphatic draining issues should not undergo treatment. - Clients with a sunburn/suntan should postpone treatment. - Clients who have a history of Hyperpigmentation/Hypopigmentation are not ideal candidates. - The client must not display any tanning at the time of the treatment. - The client must not display herpes simplex (cold sores when working in the lip area) It is recommended they consult with their medical Doctor and begin taking the prescription Valtrex 3 days prior to treatment and 4 days following treatment. - If the client wears a pacemaker avoid treatment with electrical arcing. - Clients who are pregnant are not ideal candidates.

Yes, definitely! Fibroblasting is a versatile treatment and can treat a wide range of skin conditions and people of any age and gender. It is an ideal treatment for people who want to avoid the risks of surgery.
  • Is aftercare provided?
Clients are provided with a detailed aftercare pamphlet and a flyer of what to expect. A free complimentary aftercare ointment is provided, which needs to be applied while the carbon crusts are on the skin. After the 7 days and the carbon crusts have fallen off, our Fibroblast Skincare hyaluronic acid gel is to applied. Clients can purchase the hyaluronic gel from us. In the week following treatment (or until the treatment area has fully healed) an exfoliating wash or cleanser should not be used. • What minimal side-effects can I expect after the procedure?
Fibroblast has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature when done by a fully certified technician. Still the majority of clients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the 7-10 days following treatment. Immediately after the treatment, the are may be red and midly swollen. You may experience a sensation similar to a sunburn which will last for a few hours on the day of the treatment. If this feels uncomfortable, apply an ice pack. There will be small carbon crusts (dots) in the treated area that will last 3-7 days before naturally lifting, revealing new pink skin beneath. Swelling in the eye area is to be expected for 2-3 days following an upper eyelid treatment. To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation and to ensure the best results, follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your technician.
