SKIN needling
WHAT IS SKIN NEEDLING?
Skin Needling, also known as Micro Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (C.I.T) is an automated-micro needling therapy system that vertically pierces the skin to naturally stimulate collagen and elastin with minimal epidermal damage. This enhances rejuvenation results and is far safer for the client because there is much less epidermal damage. The automatic, high speed vibrating function of the device increases the effectiveness of the treatment by rapidly creating quick multiple insertions which dramatically reduce pain and discomfort for the patient. A great treatment for all skin types.
HOW DOES SKIN NEEDLING WORK?
The treatment introduces fine needles to the skin to create microscopic channels. In doing so the dermis is encouraged to produce new collagen and elastin which generates new skin cells. The skin then becomes thicker, plumper and more youthful. The device that is covered with many ultra-fine needles is run across the targeted areas to create small channels in the skin. As the device rolls along the skin, these needles penetrate the upper layers of skin producing thousands of tiny puncture marks or micro-medical needle- channels in the skin.
These microscopic wounds, which heal within a few hours, stimulate the skin’s healing process and increase collagen and elastin production. Skin Needling is gentle enough to stimulate collagen production without producing scar tissue or increasing pigmentation.
The epidermis is affected by this process as evinced by redness and superficial bleeding. The presence of bleeding and inflammation then prompts the body’s natural healing process. During the healing process, growth factors, connective tissue proteins, and other chemicals involved in faster healing are produced at an efficient rate. Collagen, elastin, fibroblasts, and other growth factors then replace the injuries which will then be the foundation of new skin. Based on studies, four sessions of microneedling increase collagen and elastin production by up to 400% within a 6-month treatment period.

Preparation
-
Avoid sun tanning or tanning creams for at least a week.
-
Avoid taking autoimmune disease medication for 24 hours.
-
Arrive with a clean face and no makeup.
-
Do not use Retin-A or other exfoliating creams 24 to 72 hours prior
-
Recent chemical peel or other skin procedure, such as filler injections, should wait two weeks before .
-
Refrain from waxing the skin to be treated for a few days
-
Must not have an active cold sore.
-
Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to the appointment
-
Do not have Skin Needling performed if you have used Accutane (Isotretinoin), an acne medication, in the last six months. During Accutane therapy and up to 6 months after completing isotretinoin, the skin is highly sensitive and changes of scarring are high; therefore, we recommend clients to wait at least 6 months after completing therapy
Aftercare
-
Use Serums: Serum can moisturise the skin and help hydrate and retain the water levels in the skin post-treatment. Combine with a repair cream for intense moisture.
-
Use a gentle cleanser: In place of active products, a very mild cleanser and barrier cream is recommended to keep your skin clean and soothe any resultant dry skin and flakiness.
-
Use collagen stimulating peptides: Collagen stimulating peptides will help your skin to prepare and recover from the procedure. These peptides work by aiding in the stimulation of collagen production and intensify the effects of the skin needling treatment.
-
Apply a cooling face mask: You may experience some skin irritation following skin needling, therefore we recommend the use of a cooling face mask to reduce inflammation and redness and to make your skin feel more comfortable.
-
Drink plenty of water: Drink plenty of water both before and after the procedure. Keeping well hydrated will assist in faster healing and skin rejuvenation.
-
Once the skin has healed, use sunscreen: While it’s important to give the sunscreen a miss for the first few days following the procedure, we do advise that you use a broad-spectrum sunscreen once your skin has healed, to prevent unwanted pigmentation and sun damage.

What is the Fibroblast/Plasma Pen treatment?Fibroblast/Plasma Pen treatment is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to reduce the volume of excess skin. This treatment is low risk, has minimal downtime and more affordable than surgery. Fibroblast Treatment is known for it's success with Non Surgical Eye Lifts, Tummy Tightening, Neck Tightening and so much more.
-
Why does it have two names? Is fibroblast and plasma pen the same treatment? This treatment has two different names in the beauty industry, however both of them are the same procedures and use the same machines. The treatment name 'fibroblast' derives from the fibroblast cells which are stimulated during this procedure. The other treatment name 'plasma pen' comes from the name of the machine which is used for this procedure.
-
What are fibroblast cells?Fibroblasts are active cells in the dermis. Their function is to increase the productions of fibres, collagen and glycosaminoglycans. The number and productivity of fibroblasts decline with age. Their density gradually begins to decrease and fibroblasts in connective tissue rarely undergo division. Small injuries from plasma stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elevates elastin levels.
-
What does the plasma pen do?The Plasma pen ionises gas in the air to create a small plasma flash. When the plasma touches the skin surface, the heat widens and is transferred into the epidermis all the way to the papillary layer which contains fibroblast cells. The skin then contracts and tightens, tones and lifts. Overall, this method activates healing, and this leads to the skin remodeling and improvement in various signs of aging
-
How many sessions do I need? How long do results last? Results are immediate! So a single session is often all you need, as all clients see results post-treatment. However, follow up treatments can be performed after 8-12 weeks if needed. Results are expected to last 1 - 2 years. Results and the required sessions can vary each client, as it depends on the aging of the skin, its decrease in elasticity and how deep the wrinkle lines are.
-
What happens during the procedure? How long does it take?During the procedure, you will discuss your desired treatment area. This consultation will be roughly 10-15 minutes, as you will also need to fill in the consultation from. Numbing cream will then be applied to the area and will be left on for 40 minutes. The actual treatment on the skin can take about 30 minutes-1.5 hours, depending on the size of the area and if more than one area is being treated.
-
Does it hurt? How long do the spots last?It is similar to hair removal laser, where you will feel mild zaps (not as strong as hair removal though!). Numbing cream will be applied to minimise this feeling. The carbon crusts will show immediately and are expected to fall off from 3-5 days (can be up to 7). There is minimal downtime compared to other treatments/surgeries.
-
Who is an ideal client? Are there any limitations?- The client should be in good health at the time of the appointment, with no preexisting health conditions. If the client displays signs of cold or flu the treatment should be rescheduled. - This treatment is ONLY recommended on Fitzpatrick Scales 1-3. Swelling in the eye area is to be expected for 2-3 days following an upper eyelid treatment. To avoid any more serious side effects such as hyperpigmentation and to ensure the best results, follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your technician.
